Houston Metro Area to Mayfield Park, Austin, TX
"Have camera...will travel!!!"
Usually spotted in the Houston Metro area shooting outdoor family sessions, my family and I decided to visit the beautiful hills of Austin, TX. We were not disapointed! Such glorious Autumn days in Austin's Mayfield Park. Skipping streams, climbing rocks, and soaking up the drenching sunshine and golden light. Oh yeah...and free-range peacocks! What an amazing place to bring tiny, fiesty balls of energy.
After a short, stream-hopping hike, the woods thinned a bit and slowly opened up to a clearing with a beautiful staircase built right into the rock! It was perfect for a family photo! Of course, this was all I could get...they're smiling, right?
But what really took my breath away (as a photographer looking for the "perfect" setting), was the completely unexpected, totally stunning, wooden TEPEE! casually constructed along the side of the path! Of course I made the boys get in...
Strangely, they were not quite as thrilled as I. No matter. Next up, the teenage girl...who gave me gold.
Yes, the boys much preferred the hike back through the woods and up the Austin chalk cliffs.
As we reached the park entrance, the sun had properly set and the sky was ablaze with color. The peacocks roosted in the trees, and the evening was hushed and still. Such a perfect ending.
Don't wait to document this singular time in the life of your family. Perfection is happening right now.
Make this Moment Matter.
